Since 2011 Luqman has been making a name for himself around his city, Dallas, Texas. Some of his notable accomplishments include open call auditioning in Austin, Texas for The Voice: Season 6 in 2013. As a result of that audition, he was invited out to Los Angeles for The Blind Auditions, being 1 in 75,000 of contestants to make it that far! Also, in 2015, he was asked to privately audition in Dallas to be a contestant on the final season of American Idol. That audition took him back out to L.A where he enjoyed a short stint on the show, performing his way through to Group Rounds.
Those who hear Luqman often share the sentiment, “he’s got an old soul”. The names Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, and Donny Hathaway are the names that would come out of his mouth if you were to ask him his main influences. He sites these artists as being musicians/vocalists that have shaped his musicianship with a stew of Soul, Folk, Country, and Pop.
