Texas Tunes: Kelly Willis, Brennen Leigh, and Melissa Carper at Lewisville Grand Theater
Kelly Willis, Brennen Leigh, and Melissa Carper, all celebrated singer-songwriters, have joined forces for a run of shows collaborating on a collection of each of their works, all for one amazing night of music! They take the Huffines Performance Hall stage at the Lewisville Grand Theater on the evening of Saturday, May 11.
BRENNEN LEIGH – “Brennen will carry the torch for REAL American music for her generation, and she’s the best one to do it in my opinion,” says Ray Benson. Featuring Asleep at the Wheel, Brennen’s latest release Obsessed With The West includes 12 original songs that Brennen says, “is my love note to Western Swing; To the rich culture it comes from, as I see it.”
KELLY WILLIS – “There’s no point in being nostalgic for the generic delineations of the past. We are in the present. That’s where Kelly Willis lives, and it’s there that she sings, as keenly and movingly as any singer in the country or pop or rock present,” says No Depression.
MELISSA CARPER – “Melissa is one of the greatest classic golden era country singers and composers of this generation,” says Saving Country Music. Her critically acclaimed 2021 release, Daddy’s Country Gold, is just that – 12 glittering Carper originals from the country, western swing, and jazz variety. She released her latest album, Ramblin’ Soul, in the fall of 2022.

About the Artist:
With rockabilly roots and a heartache-meets-honky-tonk voice, Kelly Willis has been labeled a country ingénue. As a new traditionalist singer/songwriter, her tunes effortlessly combine the storytelling and strings aspects of country music and the driving force of rock.
After the last two joint releases (Cheater’s Game in 2013 and Our Year in 2014) with husband Bruce Robison featuring duets with beautifully organic close harmonies, the reigning Austin all-Americana couple will take a creative break and pursue their own ventures this year. Kelly has a solo project currently in the works, which will tentatively be released later this year.
